Class Descriptions
Align
This practice combines static postures with mindful breathing, with a strong focus on healthy and safe alignment, and finding a balance between strength and flexibility. These classes may include sun salutations.
Level I: Beginner. No yoga experience necessary.
Level I/II: Continuing Beginner-Intermediate
Level II: Intermediate-Advanced. These classes will explore more advanced postures, including inversions, arm balances, and deep backbends. Prerequisite: Students must have consistent experience with fundamental yoga postures, Sun Salutations, and Ujjayi breath, and the ability to self-regulate and rest as needed.
Yin
The opposite of our active classes, yin yoga is a quiet, passive, and still practice of long holds (3-5 minutes) of floor postures focusing on the spine, hips, and legs, with the added benefit of refreshing the energy channels within the body.
Level: Continuing Beginner-Intermediate
Flow
This Vinyasa class links movement to breath in a flowing sequence.
Level I: Continuing Beginner. Some yoga experience is required.
Level I/II: Continuing Beginner-Intermediate
Level II: Advanced. These classes will explore more advanced postures, including inversions, arm balances, and deep backbends. Prerequisite: Students must have a consistent practice of Sun Salutation A + B, the ability to maintain a steady Ujjayi breath throughout class, knowledge of appropriate modifications, and the ability to self-regulate and rest as needed.Gentle (Chair)
Slow, mindful, and gentle movement while either seated in a chair or using the chair for support, with a focus on safe and healthy alignment, flexibility, and balance.
Level: Beginner
Meditation
Rooted in classical meditation traditions, this class centers on cultivating awareness, balance, and inner steadiness through a guided meditation explored over several weeks.
Level: Beginner. No experience is necessary.
Class Levels
Beginner: No experience necessary. Brand new to yoga or returning after a long hiatus.
Continuing Beginner: Some yoga experience or returning after a short hiatus.
Intermediate: Consistent experience with fundamental yoga postures, Sun Salutations, and Ujjayi breath, and the ability to self-regulate and rest as needed.
Advanced: Thorough understanding and consistent practice of Sun Salutation A + B, ability to maintain a steady Ujjayi breath throughout a 75-minute class, knowledge of appropriate modifications, and the ability to self-regulate and rest as needed.
